The ordinary acts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest...Thomas Moore

Building a good marriage  and building a good log fire are similar in many ways. You build a fire with paper and kindling, and all at once it goes up in a brilliantly burning blaze. Then the primary blaze burns down and you wonder if the fire will fizzle out and leave you in the dark. You blow on it and fan it for all you are worth. Sometimes smoke billows out and it almost chokes you, but if the materials are good and if you invest enough energy and interest in maintaining it, soon the big solid logs catch, and your fire takes on new qualities.
Josephine Lowman

He who loves his wife loves himself.    Ephesians 5:28

But love is blind, and lovers cannot see
The petty follies that themselves commit.
William Shakesphere

But whoso commiteth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.    Proverbs 6:32

A woman's lack of happiness often makes her husband feel that he is a failure.       Anonymous

If your love is pure, simple, and good, you will not be a slave to anything... Thomas A Kempis

When married people tell me their love has died, I sometimes think it may be more accurate to say that they have killed it. I am not thinking of violent, brutal acts of dark betrayal. I mean that the flame of love has gradually waned and guttered out from sheer neglect...David Mace

A Sad Split

The drama played out in a nest of bald eagles monitored by a web-cam. A beloved eagle family, viewed by many via the Internet was breaking up. After raising several offspring in previous seasons, the parents again laid new eggs in the spring. But then a young female invaded their happy home. When Dad started cavorting with her, Mom disappeared and the life in the abandoned eggs died.

In an Internet chat room, questions and accusations flew wildly. Everyone who loved the pair was distraught. Biologists warned the amateur eagle enthusiasts not to attribute human values to birds. But everyone did. We all wanted the original couple to reunite. Everyone seemed to "know" that the family unit is sacred....Julie Ackerman Link

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within the reach of every hand.      Mother Teresa

"Our nation, in the last twenty years, has lost a great deal of it's gentleness, it's kindness... it's civility. Children are increasingly belligerent, and adults more coarse. Let's break the cycle. Don't let the abundance we have acquired through liberty make us selfish. Celebrate today, not just our liberties, but our heritage of civility." .....   Thomas G. Elliott, Former Pastor of St, Jude's Church
